My Top picks of the 'Real' Black Friday Deals

It's been a bit quiet around here recently, some health issues caused me to to need some offline time and then it was difficult to make the return but what better time than the day of bargains it'self, Black Friday?

I know there will be many of you that have already stopped reading as you're so fed up of all the 'Black Friday american nonsense. I've seen an image shared a lot this morning stating,

'It's only a bargain if you really need it.'

I completely agree. There are many retailers out there that are using the Black Friday chaos and confusion to  blightsight you in to thinking that their old stock is worth buying at discounted prices. That's not the case with everyone though, there are plenty of genuinely good deals out there if you know where to look, and let's face it at this time of year every penny counts!

I've seen some really enticing offers land in my inbox today and i'm pleased to say that apart from a couple of gifts that were all ready on my shopping list I've managed to resist temptation so far (there's still a good few hours to go though!)

Here's my top real deals this Black Friday

Kids Clothing

We all like to treat out little ones to a new outfit for Christmas Day and I've noticed some of my favourite brands are running fabulous promotions on their childrens clothing range!

Frugi have 25% off all their Autumn Winter range and you can save an extra £10 when you use the code CHIMNEY too!

F4G have 50% off everything on their website until Monday, bith my children have their Christmas party clothes from here this year and I love their latest range!

Toys and Tech

Amazon have some really amazing toys and tech at great prizes this year but they are each on for a limited time and are selling fast so be quick! We ordered the Kids edition Fire tablet this morning for just £69.99 saving £30! This has been on my daughter's Christmas list so I'm really pleased with the saving!

Pampering Gifts

The Body Shop is always a popular choice for gifts for friends and family and they have 40% off everything today with free delivery over a fiver too!

Books

Books always make a good Christmas gift, for both Children and grown ups alike, who doesn't love curling up with a good story?! The Book People not only have a fantastic Sale on with some fantastic offers, they also have an extra 10%  off when you use the code FRIDAY10.

Marvel Superhero Costumes #bargainoftheweek

Are your children fans of Captain America, Thor, Iron Man or the Hulk?

Both my son and daughter are mad about Marvel, especially The Avengers, so I was rather excited when my friend and fellow bargain hunter Pippa posted in the Mymummyspennies Money Saving Group about a selection of Marvel dress up costumes she had seen for just £3.99 in her local Home Bargains!

She had immediately purchased Thor for her eldest superhero Bud. The next day I nipped out to our local franchise Quality Save but was disappointed to find they only had Captain America left and only in age 3 - 4. This was ideal for my 3 year old daughter who was delighted to meet 'Captain America' at Hamley's last month, however I really wanted to treat my son also. This is where Pippa came to the rescue again and managed to get not just a Captain America in size large for my eldest but a Thor for both of them too!

The sizes available were S (3-4) M (5-6) and L (7-8) - not all were available in all stores but at that price it worth a look!

So if you have a mini Marvel fan who not pop down to your nearest Home Bargains or Quality Save and see what's left?

If you've found any bargain this week why not share them in the linky, I'll give them lots of social media love! You can pop my #bargainoftheweek badge up by just grabbing the code below...

Camping is Ace! #BargainoftheWeek

We love camping! Our family Christmas present to ourselves was a brand new tent and we can't wait to take it out on our next outdoor adventure!

Tonight on the way to pick my eldest up from Beavers I popped into our local Morrisons and saw this t - shirt in their Nutmeg range...

 I agree Camping is Ace!

And for selling this at just £2 I think Morrisons is ace!

I picked one up for both my son and daughter, the loose fit and log sleeves will be ideal for running round fields on our net camping trip!

As I know my lovely readers are fans of the great outdoors as well as a bargain I just had to share this with you. The had a great selection of other clothes at great prices too but this top really stood out!

Have you found a good bargain this week? I'd love you to link it up here...

I was not asked to write this post, I paid for the t-shirts myself and just wanted to share!

Frugi are coming to you!!

As you probably already know....

We Love Frugi!!!

I first discovered this Cornish Organic Children's Clothing brand when my daughter was wearing cloth nappies and I was looking for clothes that were cut for cloth, but even now she has been out of nappies for a while both my children are still kitted out in Frugi! The funky and unique designs that stand out from the high street offerings are not just pleasing to the eye, they are hard wearing too! From climbing tree's to jumping in muddy puddles, rolling down hills and what ever other messy states that children get in to, my two have done it all in their frugi gear, yet wash after wash it still looks great! And it's all organic too!

I have to admit the prices are higher than I would usually pay for children's clothes but the generous sizing and great quality mean that I am prepared to spend that little bit more!

Saying that though as you know, I'm always on the hunt for a bargain and if you live near Derby, York, Balham, Farnham or Swindon then the Frugi bargains are heading your way! They are leaving sunning Cornwall and are going on a road trip this November to bring you  sale stock at up to 70% off! Wow!

Check out your nearest pop up sale location below...

If like me you aren't near enough to grab theses bargains, do not fear! You can still get 15% off current season offerings at www.welovefrugi.com with discount code BORIS. Frugi offer FREE standard UK delivery and accept paypal too!

If you manage to get to one of the pop up sales, do come back here and let me know what you bought! I'd love to read about your Frugi loveliness!

Happy Shopping!

MegaBloks Build n Go Pad - #Bargainoftheweek!

Are you thinking about Christmas yet?

Yes, you're right, I did just mention Christmas in August and I'm not sorry! Living on a tight budget as we do, there is no way that I could afford to do all my Christmas shopping out of my November pay packet so I like to spread it across the year, usually starting as early as Boxing Day the year before...

I find that August is the best time for getting big discounts on toys as the big high street shops (such as Boots, Debenhams and Argos to name just a few) are clearing out their shelves of the 'old' stock ready for the 'must have' buys of the festive season, (some of which will be the same toys in different packaging!)  I've seen better than half prices sales at all of the above this week, but my 'bargain of the week' came from Argos...

Construction toys are always a good present both for my own children and their friends or relatives too, so when a friend told me about the Mega Bloks Create 'n' Play Build 'n' Go Pad's being reduced at Argos from £11.99 to just £4.99 I just had to get a couple for the 'Christmas cupboard' and when I took a look on the website and realised that Argos were offering 3 for 2 on all Toys until Tuesday I immediately reserved 3 at my local store!

mega bloks create n play build n go pad

They are currently on offer at many other shops for £10 each so at fraction of that at just £3.33 you can't go wrong. They are a perfect travel toy that includes a storage drawer, a building platform and 75 pieces. They are the smaller bricks though so aimed at children aged 4+.

mega bloks create n play build n go pad blue

One thing to bear in mind though is they come in two different styles; Blue with kits to makes cars and things with wheels and purple/ pink which includes flowers and animals, (I know which one my car loving daughter would prefer!) however when you reserve (or order online) you cannot specify which one you want so it is luck of the draw. When I when to collect mine I had to ask a very lovely staff member to nip down to the stock room and swap and pink one for a blue one, if you don't ask you don't get!

Have you started your Christmas shopping this year? I would love to hear about your 'bargain of the week'

Win with Bambinex and Zulily!

As you know I am a huge fan of Zulily, the daily deals site with a difference. I am a little bit obsessed with checking the app on my phone each morning to see what delights are on offer that day! The stock is often limited so the early bird catches the bargains and I have grabbed some great ones from balance bikes to leather satchels and more! Their Flash Sales that offer up to 90% off high end brands for just 72 hours have allowed me to buy things for my family that I could not otherwise dream of affording!

Zulily is different from other deals sites because everything you order comes directly from them, so you wont be sent a voucher that you have to claim elsewhere and pay extra delivery charges, all your beautiful items are sent directly to the Zulily pixies who lovingly package them up and send out to you in around 10 - 14 days. Because of this they have a standard delivery charge of £3.95 for most UK orders and  once you've paid it, you can order as many things you want in the same day with no extra delivery charges!

Another thing that makes Zulily stand out from other sites is the variety of products that they offer. As well as toys, clothes and household items they regularly have sales on breastfeeding accessories, babywearing products and cloth nappies. These are products that you don't often see offered at a such a great discount!

Bambinex have received zulily's official seal of approval for their compact nappy wraps. These one-size designs grow with newborn babies right through to toddlerhood, and they have space for an 'absorbency booster' for overnight use.

On Wednesday 12th June Zulily will be running a flash sale with Bambinex and you will be able to save some pennies while also helping to save the environment!

Although I am a self confessed cloth nappy addict, this is a brand I have not personally used so  I asked a fellow blogger and fluffy bum what she thought of them, Kate from Life, Love and Living with Boys says...
"We've got Bambinex Teddy's in pink, green and yellow and the bamboo is lovely and soft and dries quickly. I also find them a really good fit for chunky babies especially. The wings are longer than other nappies we've used making them easy to put on and they give a nice fit. They are my favourite two-piece cloth nappy."

To celebrate the upcoming sale the lovely folks at zulily and Bambinex have teamed up to offer one lucky My Mummy's Pennies reader an amazing prize bundle containing....

A Bambinex starter pack consisting of:

·         1 x Pink Grow with Your Baby All-in-One Nappy
·         1 x Mint Grow with Your Baby All-in-One Nappy

Hello Canvas Review and Giveaway...

Like most Mummies I love taking photos of my children. You may even say I'm slightly obsessed! I recently transferred the last four year's photos over to an external hard-drive and even I was surprised at how many there were! Just over twenty one thousand!

Having all these pictures that are of full of precious memories hidden away in a computer seems such a shame so I like to have as many on display as possible. One way I love to display them is on Canvas's, as well as a great way of showing of my favourite pictures, it also brightens up dull and boring walls.

I was delighted to be offered a canvas to review from HelloCanvas!

After spending a few hours going though photographs (I love doing this, I rediscovered lots of great shots I’d forgotten about and they brought some beautiful memories to mind) I decided to go for something a bit different this time. So instead of a a portrait of my children, (as we have many of these hanging on our walls) I decided to go for something a bit more arty...

Over the Jubilee weekend last month we had a family day out to our local park and had a ride on a lovely old fashioned tram, I got some lovely pictures and there was one that really stood out, Elizabeth is standing in front of the tram waving her flag and it just looks so timeless!

So after choosing the picture I couldn't wait to see what it looked like on canvas, and luckily I didn't have to wait long at all as less than a week later a very exciting package arrived...

The first thing I noticed was the quality, the 1.2 inch frame is sturdy and well made and the 100% Canvas is strong and smooth. The printing of the image is impeccable and I love the way the image wraps around the edges of the frame, this is really striking!

I couldn't wait to put it up on the wall, it came 'ready to hang' so took just a moment and as soon as I did I fell even more in love with it!

The Canvas is a really good size ( 20" by 28" ) and the printing is so professional you wouldn't believe that the image originated from a snapshot on my phone in the Park! At just £39 this is a real bargain, it could easily be mistaken for a piece of artwork costing double that.

Hello Canvas has a wide range of sizes to suit every budget starting at just £13 and delivery is free and with you within a week! Perfect if you've left ordering a gift until the last minute!

As well as offering such amazing quality at surprisingly good prices they also offer some fabulous extra services. Red eye removal, Date removal and a choice of Colour, Black & White or Sepia are all free of charge. And a range of fancier effects from colour highlight to wood effect and many more start at just £10...

And if you don’t have a digital copy of the photo you want you can simply send it to them to scan for you for free.

I am really impressed with both the service and the quality at Hello Canvas and would recommend them to anyone wanting to create some beautiful artwork from their photographs, I will certainly be returning to place another order soon...

To find out more and turn your memories into beautiful artwork check out their website www.hellocanvas.co.uk.

You can also like Hello Canvas on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and offers...

Are You a Yummy Mummy to be?

Pregnancy is a magical time, but it can also be an expensive one! Not only do you want to start buying things for your new addition, you also have to think about how your body will change over the coming months! Although this does mean you get an excuse to go shopping (a great way to give yourself a boost if you’re having a weepy pregnancy moment!) It can also mean that you start spending the pennies you had saved up for the larger baby purchases.

Furniture shopping and An unexpected bargain...

Today the grandparents had our two little ones for a few hours. So how did hubby and I spend our freedom? A nice pub lunch? Some much needed sleep? A bit of other bedroom activity?

No to all of the above. We went to IKEA!

Not exactly the most relaxing or romantic way to spend a few hours without the little ones (and to be honest, most previous trips there have ended in an argument!) However we needed some new (cheap) furniture! After fighting with the no more nails on Ben's chest of drawers for the 5th time last week, the top drawer collapsed AGAIN on Saturday, and I finally managed to convince hubby (after nagging him into submission) that we needed a new display cabinet, to replace the rather rickety shelves we have in the living room at the moment with our 'breakables' on.

So off we went! After a slightly disappointing start in the cafe (we arrived at ten past eleven to realise that the £1.75 breakfast finished at 11am!) we were soon cheered up by the fact that we got 2 cinnamon buns and two coffees for just £1 in total! (to be honest I’d take a cinnamon bun over a cooked breakfast any day!)

MALM Chest of 3 drawers, white Width: 80 cm Depth: 48 cm Height: 78 cm
When we arrived and saw all the children playing in the outdoor play area I wished we had brought Ben and Missy, However, I was soon very glad we hadn't as it was SO busy! I knew it was a Sunday and had expected some crowds but it was very packed and quite hard to get to look at some things! After managing to get all the way round we chose a lovely white chest of drawers for just £35 for Ben's Room and decided to purchase the offer of the week, the BJURSTA display cabinet that was just £99 (usually £199) for our living room! We did buy a few other things (you can't go to IKEA and just get what you're looking for, can you?!) but I wont bore you with the rest as these two were definitely the bargains of the bunch!

After finishing our shop (without a single argument!!) we popped over to TOYS R US as Ben had been given a gift voucher for his birthday but we don't really have one local to us, so I thought while we were close to a store I may as well see if there was anything he would like. I had also printed out a 20% off voucher I'd been emailed on Friday. I was intending to get a jigsaw or puzzle (he is puzzle mad!) and keep it in till Christmas (as he was given lots of lovely toys for his birthday, some of which he has hardly had time to play with yet!)

However while walking up and down the aisles a particular section grabbed hubby's attention and I watched as his face lit up like a child at Christmas! He had found the Scalextric!! As he was reminiscing about his childhood, my bargain radar kicked in and one particular set caught my eye. The Toy Story Micro Scalextric set was on offer at half price only £29.99! (RRP £59.99) Like many 4 year olds Ben loves Toy story, and is always running around 'flying' like Buzz or being a 'cowboy' like woody! So after looking at the set in more detail and being convinced by hubby that Ben would love it we decided to buy it as his 'main' Christmas present (I say main as we have already bought him quite a few smaller bit and bobs, but this will be the last I think!) I'm not really sure if Ben will get a look in on Christmas Day as I think Daddy really wanted it for himself!

So not only was this half price, but we got another 20% off with our voucher and used Ben's £10 gift card towards it too! So it only cost £13.99! What a bargain! It's now up in the loft waiting for Santa but I'll be sure to share a full review with you after Christmas when Ben (and Daddy) have had a proper play!

Quite a successful and 'penny pinching' Shopping trip overall! And Ben is now completely sorted for Christmas! Still need a few ideas for Missy though! Her 1st birthday is only 5 weeks before Christmas so I imagine she'll be getting quite a lot of toys then!
