BOOMco™ Rapid Madness Blaster - Review and Giveaway

The BOOMco™ Rapid Madness Blaster is one of the must have toys this Christmas and my 7 year year old was thrilled to be sent one to try out! I have have always been in two minds about toy 'guns' but I've come to terms with the fact that the more you make something taboo, the more desirable it becomes. Both my children are starting to enjoy more action based games and if they don't have the toys to play with they will just pretend with whatever is at hand anyway.

My 7 year old took the Rapid Madness Blaster away on his last beaver camp and had great fun playing in the fields with all the older boys and Daddy, I think it made him quite popular!

The Rapid Madness Blaster is aimed at children from ages 6 to 12 years old but I think that upper age range is quite flexible as there is a certain 29 year old in our house who is rather keen to play with it at any opportunity too! The toy is quite sizeable and you do need some strength to pump it up ready to fire but after a few goes my 7 year old son easily got the hang of it.

The blaster offers two ways to fire the darts, either singe shot for accuracy or rapid mode firing an impressive 20 darts up to 50 feet in seconds!

There are two plastic 'shields' on each side of the blaster and I wasn't quite sure of the purpose of these at first, but after a little investigation I discovered that these could be customised with stickers (sold separately) and if you are playing with a friend who also has a blaster, their darts will stick to the shields so you can 'win' them in battle!

How Much?

At an RRP of £49.99 it's a little expensive but if you shop around for the best prices you can get much better deals and Tesco have the BOOMco™ Rapid Madness Blaster for just £20 currently *

An Outdoor Toy?

Although the darts are soft and shouldn't do much damage, if any, they do fly at quite a speed and the blaster it'self is quite big so we have decided this is an outdoor only toy. It's was ideal for camping or for the grandparents garden where we have lots of room. The darts are really sticky when shot at the target or a wall but despite their bright colour a few did get lost in the long grass or bushes.

Overall Thoughts

I was quite skeptical of this toy at first but both my eldest son and husband have had a lot of play value from it and I do like the fat that it's air-powered and doesn't need batteries! It's well made and despite been thrown around quite a lot by my rough-handed seven year old has remained intact and functional. I was impressed at how well the darts maintained their stickyness after lots of play although as mentioned we did lose a few so have purchased a few spare packs that we found on a reduced counter at the spermarket. If you get a good deal on this then it's definitely worth it to put a smile on the face of your action loving child this Christmas!
