Our family loves having outdoor adventures and we were delighted when the lovely folks at Mr Kipling sent us a selection of their most popular products; including French fancies, Viennese Whirls and Cherry Bakewells to show that we can make our Easter holiday days out even #betterwithcake! We took them away on our holidays to Cornwall and had some fantastic days out! I wanted to share just a few of them with you...
Building Sandcastles is #betterwithcake
We took some delicious Viennese Whirls with us when we visited Newquay Beach. We had great adventures exploring the beach, climbing over rocks and rock pooling as well as paddling in the sea and building sandcastles! We were lucky enough to have a beautifully sunny day so spend most of it getting sandy! It's all fabulous fun but tiring work so we put the bucket and spade down for a few moments to enjoy a tasty treat!
Exploring Castles is #betterwithcake
We love visiting National Trust locations and have been members sine my youngest was a baby. We first visited St Michael's Mount last year when on holiday in Cornwall and couldn't resist returning again this year. It is such a beautiful and iconic place; a castle on a island in the sea, connecting with the mainland only when the tide sees fit. The children love the legends of the giant and searching for his tiny heart on the path up to the castle and they really enjoy finding the clues to complete the castle quiz, then getting a medal as their prize! I love the views, the history, the gardens, well everything really! Last year the tide was out so we were able to cross on foot but this time we had the added excitement of getting a boat across! It's a really great day out that I would recommend to anyone visiting Cornwall! While we waited for the boat back to the mainland we sat on the harbour and tucked in to a French Fancy or two! The perfect end to a fabulous day!
Land's End is #betterwithcake
This was our second family holiday to Cornwall but the first time we had visited Land's End. It was a wonderfully hot day but there was mist on the coast so our views were a little obstructed however that didn't mean they were any less breathtaking! As well as looking out to the sea from the westernmost point of Cornwall there was lots to entertain the whole family, including a fabulous play area with a zipwire that my 7 year old would happily have played on all day, shops to buy lovely souvenirs, a 4D cinema experience showing a Lost World Dinosaur short that my 4 year old daughter loved and a Shaun the Sheep experience that had our whole family drawing story boards and having fun! There is also a lovely small animal farm where we could pet the lambs and watch the calves being fed! While the children used up their energy on the play area we sat in the sun and enjoyed our picnic finished off with the treat of Cherry Bakewells and French Fancies! Yum!
What have you been up to these Easter holidays? Have you had any days out that have been made even #Betterwithcake? I'd love to hear about them!
