  1. We like to go out to a nice woodlands or park kind of area and take a picnic, let the kids run about and just explore. Lovely cheap day out! We don't do it often enough, can't wait for the warmer weather to get out more!

  4. Munchkin loves the woods! Her idea of a perfect day out is to go 'exploring' in the forest. If there is a pond to feed the ducks too, then that's even better :)

  8. I think the important thing to realise is that you don't need to have a big day trip, you can explore nature everywhere! From your garden or local park outwards. We always talk about the plants and animals we see when we are out and about and Bud loves bringing home treasures like pine cones.

  21. We're so lucky to live near to Keilder Water & Forest Park.

Keilder is home too the largest man made lake in nth Europe & the largest working forest in the England.

We love to take our bikes there & follow the safe paths ... It beats cycling on the busy roads these days ... Less stressful & safer.

You can hire bikes there, too.

We like to have a picnic by the lake if the weather is good. If not, there are lovely places to have a snack or meal there.

There were villages, farms & houses there before it was deliberately flooded to make the lake ... It feels spooky to think of the buildings still down there, especially if you are on one of the boat rides!

It's a great place & this has just reminded me that it's time for another visit soon!

  52. I've been a bit lax of late as the rather miserable, cold weather has put me off from getting out of the house, but as the weather warms we'll get out more - predominantly nature walks locally, although we do go a bit further afield when my partner has a day off :-)
