Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum Review

Earlier this month I turned 31, having spent a whole year out of my twenties I've come to terms with the fact i'm not as young as I used to be and my skin is starting to reflect that. Ten years ago I could party until 2am, 3 nights week and still wake up fresh faced, ready for a day in work or university. Times have changed and if I am up until 2am it's now comforting a poorly child, not dancing in a nightclub and my skin will certainly tell the story of it the following morning.

I'm also starting to see fine lines appear and my skin is prone to redness and drying. I've tried a number of creams and serums to combat this but I've not yet settled on one that does it all.

I was excited to try out the new Superskin™ Face Serum from Liz Earle as it promised to do just that. I'm already a fan of the brand, regularly using their iconic Cleanse and Polish so I couldn't wait to start using the latest product from their range.

Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum packaging

Liz Earle say their Superskin™ Face Serum is enriched with their most powerful naturally active ingredients, and is our new ally for truly radiant, youthful-looking skin.  They suggest adding Superskin™ Face Serum to your morning regime to…

1. Even skin tone – with Persian silk tree extract to help fight the visible signs of fatigue, such as a dull complexion.

2. Lift and firm – with pomegranate flower extract to help boost collagen.

3. Plump and smooth – with rhubarb extract to help intensely hydrate skin.

It comes in a stylish 30ml pump with a plastic lid that securely fits on top (I'm always loosing the lids off beauty products as they seem to come off easily but so far this one remains intact). The silver tube has an ergonomic shape and easily stand up on the bathroom shelf. The white pump gives you just the amount you need.

Liz Earle pride themselves on using high performance, quality and safe ingredients and the Superskin serum is no different, it contains; Rhubarb Root Extract, Olive Leaf Extract, Jujube Extract, Pomegranate Flower Extract and Persian Silk Tree Extract. My skin can be sensitive but after a week of using none of these ingredients have caused a reaction.

I received the serum last Saturday so have been using it now for just over a week. Each morning after cleansing and toning and before applying my moisturiser I apply around 2 pumps to my whole face and neck, using my fingertips to firmly rub it in. It has a pleasant light and creamy texture and absorbs into my skin quickly and easily so I can continue my morning routine without delay.

After just a few days use I felt that my skin was getting smoother and now after a week I have noticed a difference in my skin tone, which appears much more even. When I look in the mirror in the morning, my skin  looks healthier and fresher. Despite starting a new job this week, feeling stressed and extremely tired by the end of it my skin looks brighter, well rested and hides this. As for the firmness and and effect on the fine lines I'm sure that will come through longer term use.

Using Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum

The Superskin Serum is now a part of my daily beauty routine and I will continue to use it, I'm impressed that althought it adds less than a minute to my mornings it looks like I've had a least an hours more sleep. I've had friends telling me this week that I look well and I can only assume that this product is to thank for that.

The only negative I have about the serum is the scent, it's very earthy and not to my personal liking, at first I was worried that this would put me off the serum, although I'm glad to say it doesn't linger too long and over the week I have become more used to it.

Overall I'm really pleased with this and would recommend it other mums my age who feel their skin needs a boost. At £48 for 30ml, it is priced at the higher end of beauty products, but so far the results have reflected that too. As you need to use such a small amount each day it should last for quite a while, so it is a worthwhile investment in your skin.
