Open and Play Pirate Recorder Review and Giveaway...

I admit it, I am tone deaf, there is not a musical bone in my body, so you won't see me playing the piano or the guitar, however when at primary school, I did enjoy learning the recorder (my mum may not  have enjoyed it as much!)

So when Ben was offered an Open and Play Recorder pack from music for kids I couldn't resist saying yes, despite Daddy's protests!

When it arrived I was really impressed with what came in the box....

The box included....
  • a good quality blue plastic recorder
  • a cleaning rod and carry bag
  • a fingering chart & play your recorder tips
  • a sheet of pirate stickers to decorate it with
  • a 'starting to play your recorder book' and cd
All this for an RRP of just £9.99!

I thought what a lovely christmas gift it would make (although I'm not sure the parents would agree! )
Ben loves Pirates and his face lit up as soon as he saw it, he couldn't wait to start decorating his new recorder with the stickers!
After decorating it Ben was really keen to start playing his recorder, with a little help he found the simple guide really easy to follow and very soon had the hang of the notes B and A and had an attempt at Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!

Ben is 5 but can be really easily distracted and I was impressed and how long this held his attention. He was really determined to do it right! A lovely little touch was the mini certificate at the back of the book which is now all filled in and on the fridge!

This a great little pack which is well thought out an ideal for this age group, it's aimed at  4+ which i'd say is about right. A really lovely way to encourage a child's interest in music an the activity of decorating it with the stickers first makes it more that just some thing to blow and make noise! Although it does that too!

Although blue and pirate themed , I would personally say that this would be ideal for boys and girls alike, but if your little one prefers pink they have the same pack available in a princess theme!

So if you're brave enough how would you like to win one of these packs for your child? (no ear plugs provided I'm afraid!)

Simply follow the instructions below for your chance to win...
