Calling all Disney Fans!

Join Mickey Mouse’s Epic Treasure Hunt This Half Term to Help Find Your Hidden Treasure and Win!

Disney UK have launched Mickey Mouse’s Epic Treasure Hunt,  a nationwide search to uncover treasured Mickey Mouse & Friends and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit memorabilia from across the UK.

Inspired by the upcoming launch of Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two this November,  Disney is encouraging fans up and down the country to take part and win the chance to have their items displayed in a unique Mickey and Oswald gallery in London later this year.

Bringing to life Disney’s history, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two sees Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit join forces in an heroic adventure to save Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters, memorabilia and theme park attractions.   It has been created by video game industry luminary Warren Spector and Disney Interactive’s Junction Point game development studio.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is one of Walt Disney’s first ever cartoon stars and last year the ‘lost’ Oswald cartoon Hungry Hoboes, created by Walt Disney in 1928, was found on a shelf in Herefordshire. This generated much excitement and captured the imaginations of fans in the UK and around the world. But to be a treasured item doesn’t mean that it has to have been lost or forgotten.

Warren Spector, creative director and vice president, Junction Point and life-long Disney collector, explains; “The discovery of a lost film is a rare and special event, of course, but if Hungry Hoboes could be found, it’s possible other Oswald cartoons - and other bits of Disney history of all sorts - might be out there too, just waiting to be discovered in homes, garages or attics. Some might be treasured personal artifacts  lovingly cared for and displayed, while some might be have been hidden away for decades in unopened storage boxes. Either way, I’m excited that Disney is giving fans and collectors the chance to share these items with the world, celebrating their history in an exhibition later this year. I can’t wait to see what items are uncovered and to hear their untold back-stories. It’s going to be epic!”

To enter simply visit www.facebook.com/DisneyEpicMickeyUK, click on the ‘Mickey’s Epic Treasure’ link, upload a photo of the item and add a short description before Monday 5th November. Entries can either be of cultural, historical, artistic or just sentimental value and independent experts will then provide a selection of lucky entrants with feedback about the history and significance of their item.

The top five entries will be invited to form part of a unique Disney gallery taking place at Westfield Stratford in London later this year.  This gallery will showcase the epic story of Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, from 1920s cartoons to modern day video game heroes, using images of archive artifacts from the Disney archives in California.

In addition, the overall winner will win a magical holiday to celebrate the endless wonders of Disneyland Paris during its 20thanniversary.   Competition Terms and Conditions apply.

I've been a Disney fan as long as I can remember and have many fond memories of Disney toys and gifts from my childhood, including my first holiday outside of the UK, a trip to Disneyland Paris when I was 10! I'll certainly be searching the attic for some lost Disney memorabilia this week, will you?
